If I click this pull down menu, you can see we have SDR or HDR. So we're going to keep enabled automatic color management. What we're going to do is keep this simple. Color management can be a very, very deep topic. So what I'm going to do is switch our color science from DaVinci YRGB to DaVinci YRGB color managed. So let's take a look at how we can automate this color management without actually getting in to color grading as an editor. And looking at a log image just doesn't do that. And if there's going to be a problem with the image, you want to know that ahead of time. You just want to see your images with the blacks looking black and the highlights looking good. But while you editing, you don't really want to do that. Basically, what that means is you have to manually handle all the color management, it's not going to make any assumptions about this underlying image, and you are going to have to handle that on the color page. By default, the color science is DaVinci YRGB. To do that, I'm going to come down to my project settings and we're going to to take a look at color management. So what I want to do now is tell DaVinci Resolve that that's what's going on here and to fix that for me automatically. So that gives us a big clue as to how this was recorded with its log or flat recording style. And I happened to know that this was recorded on the original Blackmagic Cinema Camera that was released back in around 2013 or so. Now, if you look at the clip name, you can see that this was recorded on a Blackmagic Cinema Camera. And I just want to scroll down to one of the interview shots because as I mentioned earlier, you can see that he looks very flat, that's because this was recorded log. Switching back to our thumbnails, and the other thing I'm going to do for the moment is just turn off the live media preview so it doesn't keep updating this image on us. With our proxy set, let's now take a look at dealing with color management so our images not only play back well, they look good too without having to go into the color page.
